TOMMY AND BOB WIN SECOND SCRAMBLE

Tommy Marshall and Bob Watson won the second Links Scramble event held at Greenwood courses B & C on Thursday the 11th. Tommy`s victory followed a runners-up place in Wednesday`s stableford event at Green Valley. Playing off a handicap of 2.25, the duo returned a net score of 64.75.  Second and third places were decided on a count back with Rich Fearby and Stu Green edging out Derek Hutchinson and Kevin LaBar with both groups returning 65.75 points.  Nick Aubin and Chris Barker claimed 4th place on 66.25. A special word of thanks should go to Derek and Kevin who made up the groups at very short notice.

The course played long but very true. The greens in particular were in excellent condition.

Back in the saddle was Phil Davies who played as a late substitute. Phil hasn’t played for quite a while and it was good to see him swinging the clubs again. He and Chris Walsh returned a very creditable score of 70.5.

A newbie to the Links was Australian cricket legend Michael Bevan. Michael played 232 one-day internationals for Australia as well as 18 Test matches. Playing with his friend, Richard Fry, the Aussie pairing never managed to get on the podium but were happy to sign up for next week`s events.
