Watson Unstoppable !

Each Golf Course we go to has variations on policy and pricing. Some courses insist on hiking up the rate because it is “high season”, whatever that is nowadays.

Bangpra has a good price, but after 11.30 am. That’s ok, we can do that. Interesting, and I’m sure PSC Members would agree, they are now charging an extra 100 bht if you cannot show your PSC Membership card. Not much, but a good start.

A long time coming and hope others follow, as we who pay membership each year see non members paying the same price at the course and wonder “how is that?”

Bangpra seems less fortunate than many other courses in our area, as it tends to dry out quickly when the rainy season ends. The  sprinklers can do a job, but can’t get to the whole area. Already, as my Caddy pointed out, there are brown patches appearing.

Most seem to be able to retain a fairly good coverage, but not Bangpra, unfortunately.

This has been going on for a while, and we are starting to run out of superlatives when talking Bob Watson and golf.

This now 4 ( soon to be much less) handicapper is just maintaining great form and with another sub handicap round, 39 points  at 73 gross, running away with yet another Green Jacket. And he’s promised to do the same in our next outing on Friday. If it was anyone else making that promise, we would be a bit cynical, but Bobby means it.. and can !

There were others in the “A” flight and the next three players all returned scores of 35 points. The countback gave Colin Smith the second spot, Wayne Peppernell third and Brian Talbot just missing out..

“B” flight players have higher handicaps, but still some good scores on a fairly difficult track. Harry Lankoff amassed a very credible 38 points to go to the top, ahead of the consistent Tony Browne on 36 points.

Then came a traffic jam at the 34 points mark. 4 players needed to be split, and it was Jim Doran tipping out Kim Thomsen for third place.

Four Near Pins were out for this round and all were won.

Bob Watson ( hole 2), Tony Browne (8), Ralph McConnell (12), Colin Smith (17).

By now if you have not had a win, another two chances on Best Nines.
