Treasure Hill Wins Again !

There are many fine golf courses in our area and we are lucky enough to get to most of them at some point.

One of the best is Treasure Hill, where, today, we had a great roll up of 24 players to tackle those narrow fairways and to keep away from the water. Some did find water, more than once..

It’s been some time since we visited, as we need to get around other courses. Last time here the course was in magnificent condition, and this time around the Greenkeeper has kept up that standard.

Looking back to the fairways was a picture, and the greens are very good. Some say too good, as many had trouble handling the super quick front nine greens. Those who know how to stop a ball on the green were unable to, and saw it head off to the back or off the green. The back nine, however, had settled to be quick, holding, and very puttable, even for me..

We are still amazed how this Golf Course is presented in such splendid condition, and able to keep holding the price at 1250 bht for Green Fee, Caddy and Cart, while other courses, some lesser in quality, won’t budge from the ridiculous “high season” pricing. Treasure Hill was very busy today, as it should be, but we still had a good smooth run.

Thank You Treasure Hill.

Treasure Hill did win! Scores were very low, with the best being just 32 points.

“A” flight results went to a countback, with Brian Talbot nudging out Bob Watson for the top honours. Bill Stewart was right behind this pair scoring 31 points for third spot.

Tony Browne has been on a roll for the past few weeks, and today he has kept up the pace and took out “B” flight with his own 32 point haul.

With only 30 points, it was an improved effort from John Anderson, but an unlikely placegetter. So low were all the scores, that, in fact, was enough for second place, amazing….

The amazement doesn’t finish there, as Jim Ferris came up with 29 points to get third place. That is very often a “wig” wearing score..

Four Near Pins out today, and someone remembered to put all of them out, and someone else actually remembered to pick them up. Well done to both.

Who won these?  James Hudson 6th and 13th….Tim Shaw  2nd…Peter Bailey..17th.

Interesting to note here. All three played in the same group ! AND NO not the last group, but the second.

Best Front Nine ( non winners)  “ Banjo” Bannister….19 pts

Best Back Nine ( non winners)     Maurice Roberts…..15 pts

Winner …”A” flight…….Brian Talbot (14)………….32pts c/back

2nd Place……………………Bob Watson ( 4)…………..32pts

3rd Place…………………….Bill Stewart (16)…………..31pts

Winner…”B” flight……..Tony Browne (20)…………32 pts

2nd Place…………………John Anderson (29)……….30 pts

3rd Place…………………Jim Ferris (22)…………….29 pts

Phil is still freezing somewhere in Wales, so Len Jones conducted the presentations.

There was a three way tie for the unwanted lowest score, so Len decided to withhold the “wig” for another day.

Brian Talbot saw and wore the Green Jacket for the first time.
