Maurice Beats Them at the Bay
Crystal Bay is one of those courses where some like it because very good scores are possible, but others don’t like it for their own particular reasons. The condition of the “C” nine is looking very rundown, and we just hope this is because it is about to be closed for badly need renovations. Let’s get the “A” nine open soon. The “B” course is holding up well, although the greens have slowed over the past few months, but still have good speed.. Maurice Roberts stated only last week that he was in the “don’t like” corner. So, after scoring a winning 39 points in the “A” flight, we wonder if he has changed corners?? Just by way of something different, Bob Watson didn’t win today, but came awfully close, putting together 35 points off his handicap of 5, so 78 gross for another great game. Colin Smith is having an excellent stay this trip with yet another podium finish on 34 points. Vero Morgan is racking up some terrific scores in her, so far, short time here. Today a matching 39 points got her top spot for “B” flight. Greg Gawron was playing well before going for a week long sojourn, and lost none of the form of recent times to take second spot with 34 points. Dave Lehane upon returning from trips overseas dropped into into third with 33 points. With 22 players out today, we had near pins on each of the par 3s. Two for “A” flight and two for “B” flight. Winners: Bob Watson (C4), Mick Coghlan (C7), Takeshi Hakozaki (B4), Mick Coghlan (B6)
Then we had Best Nines.

When Adam wore the Green Jacket it fitted just right, but the same jacket is a little large for Vero, but she still looks good and happy to wrap it around. Len Jones has lost some of his good form of recent weeks, and again wore the “Wig”, but with a big smile. He knows it is only another game or two and he will have the Jacket.
Special Note.. The Links Cup returns next month at Burapha on Wednesday Oct.4 Don’t miss it. Plenty of prizes to be won..
