Pierrel and Gall Star at Burapha

Yes, it is ‘low season’, but a great field of 22 golfers took to the C+D combination under cloudy skies. But our luck continued and our six groups completed the round without getting a soaking.

Today we had a few newcomers who had never been to Burapha before, and were lavishly singing the praises for the course and the condition it is in currently.Fairways were, of course, a little damp underfoot, and the greens in very good order.

Because of the number of players we were able to have four near pins. Three of the four were won, with no one able to get on the green on D2.The winners were able to choose their prize from an array generously donated by Mike Firkin.

The winners were Greg Proctor (C5) John Pierrel (C8) and Angus Gannon (D8).

For a change both flights recorded the same range of scoring.

“A” flight saw John Pierrel amass an excellent 38 points to win well. Paul Bray and Maurice Roberts fought it out in a countback, with Paul getting the across the line for second place and Maurice third, both with 35 points.

“B” flight had Alistair Gall having the same winning score of 38 points, a great job.No countback needed for second as Mike Firkin on 35 points had that spot all to himself, but we did need the countback to decide third place and here Greg Proctor snuck over the line.

More winners now with the Best Nines competition.
