Stu Has the Ingredients for SuccessBurapha Golf Club has very few peers in terms of quality and it is always a joy to play golf on the finely prepared A and B nines. The Pattaya Links Golf Society enjoyed such a day on Wednesday, 6th December under clear skies with a comfortable breeze. Surprisingly there was only one flight but competition was keen nevertheless.
What makes golf so special is the equity provided by the handicap system, allowing high as well as low markers to compete together in the same conditions and this was evident on the day as it took a countback to decide third place between the high marker in the field with one of the low markers, as Len Jones enjoyed his 36 point round, giving him third place at the expense of Mick Alleyne. Aussie Wayne Peppernell returned to Pattaya to take second place with 39 points whilst compatriot Stu Thompson played a fine round finishing with 40 points for his second win from the last three comps with the PLGS. It marked his best round since returning to the game after his accident a couple of years ago. Well played Stu, indeed.
For non winners there was the consolation of being in the hat for the best nines and Niels Peter registered the best front nine with 17 points whilst the Scottish giant Michael McGuigan belted out 21 points for the back nine prize. It had been an excellent day at Burapha and thanks to all concerned.
