A Tough Day At The Golf Course

We certainly know that ” a bad day’s golf is better than a day at work”, or something like that.

But, from 15 golfers today, only one could play to handicap. Nick Odnoral did it scoring 36 points on a course that seemed in very good condition, considering it had not rained there for two days.

The greens where quicker than our last trip here two months ago, but there were variations of pace around the course, so no one could settle in to the speed.

The rough was tough to get free of, once again grass that would grab the club and dictate which way the ball was to go.

At the first tee there was another group, a Soi Lemkee Bar, gathering at the same time we were.

However, we went off first, and on looking around, the others had disappeared, presumably going to the 10th. Well done to the starters. We continued on to complete the round in good time.

Colin Smith, the happy Welshman, had a good game to finish with 34 points and second place behind Nick.

Bob Watson was never going to be far from the action and scored 33 points to take third. So Bobby, you don’t get a Green Jacket for third.!

And in fourth place was Phil Davies off his newest handicap of 13.

Then there were the Best Nines

Best Front Nine ( non winners)……Derek Phillips…17 pts c/back

Best Back Nine ( non winners)…….Masa Tanako…..15 pts

Winner………Nick Odnoral (20 )……36 pts

2nd Place…….Colin Smith (13)………34 pts

3rd Place……..Bob Watson (5)………..33 pts

4th Place………Phil Davies (13)……….32 pts.

The Presentations went well until the announcement of the Winner,.. who wasn’t there. Unperterbed, Phil carried on to present the “Wig” to Gary Bolger, but no photo.

Then, a short time later, Nick arrived, the Green Jacket was presented, the photo taken, and all was right with the world again.
