The weather is cooler and very much more enjoyable now, so thirty players came to the Emerald course ready for the challenge presented by this Nick Faldo and Desmond Muirhead layout.
Emerald is not one of the ‘prestige’ type courses but has many interesting and difficult holes.
The fairways are in good shape and so are the greens.
However, the big talking point was just how hard and quick these greens were. Many reflecting on how difficult to hold the ball on the green and the challenge of putting.
There were none of the forty plus scores of recent games, but 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 showed a dash of form to go close, with a score of 39 points, to comfortably win the ‘A’ flight.
Stuart Kidd, playing his second game since returning to Pattaya, did well again to take second spot with 35 points.
Another who has been away in the U.K is Paul Durkan. In his first outing with Links since his return, this very good low handicap player took third place with a creditable 34 points.
Petur Petursson’s handicap has crept out to #7 but a good round had him scoring 33 points for the fourth place.
𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼, returning after tripping around the country, took the honours in the ‘B’ flight with a solid 36 points.
New ‘boy’,Adam Davies, grabbed second spot with 35 points ahead of consistent Mike Firkin on 34 points.
Phil Davies, no relation to Adam, was surprised that his 32 points would get a place on the podium, but it did.

The ‘silly hat’ has gone missing. A pity, because there were some would-be applicants today, with a putter left in the car, a sand wedge left on the practice green and an upside marked card.
We were going to use an old photo of George, but he insisted on a new one with his new, matching green hat to go with the Green Jacket.
