Whenever amateur golfers daydream, it is usually about the playing the perfect game. It is a very rare occasion when that dream comes true.
Lee Smith lived that dream today with an amazing score of 51 points. And, he is quick to add, included one โ€˜blobโ€™.
Not sure it will happen again, but there will be a big chunk missing from his handicap if it does.
It is hardly worth mentioning the other placegetters but, for the record, Huw Phillips had another of his consistent rounds with a very good 37 points to take second place.
Roger Emery, playing his first game with us for a while, showed his usual good form with a nice 36 points for third spot.
John Reps, in just his second game was, once again, amongst the places with a solid 35 points for the fourth berth.

We had not been to Eastern Star for some time and it was good to get back to this challenging golf course.
From the first tee, the fairways looked to be in very good condition, so we played the ball โ€˜as it liesโ€™. This turned out to be a mistake as carts rarely went on fairways and they were still quite soft from recent rains.
The greens, however, had just been cut and were playing at a quick pace and running truly.
We were given the go-ahead to start 30 minutes early and all of our five -four ballโ€™s finished in good time, even though there were some other societies ahead of us.
