It’s time to brush the cobwebs from the keyboard as we welcomed, to Khao Kheow, our largest field of players in many months.
On a near perfect golf day, weather wise, twenty three golfers arrived, ready to tackle the C+B combination.
This course was in good condition with well grassed fairways, a rough not too harsh, and good paced and true greens. Even though the greens looked a little patchy, they still played well. The ongoing problems with the tee boxes remains.
The all-in price of 1100 bht is slightly up from last month, but still an excellent price for this really good course.
Having this many players, it was a good chance to bring out the near pins comp again which resulted in a good spread of winners.
𝗡𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗣𝗶𝗻𝘀: Jamie Booterbaugh (3), Mike Ehlert (8), Petur Petursson (12), Kevin LaBar (17)
When choosing to play from the forward white tees, it was not anticipated the number of big scores, and just how big they would be.
Khao Kheow, even on a dry course is not renowned for giving up big scores but, on this day, if you didn’t have at least 40 points you missed out.
Kevin Labar, after having a fairly lean run recently, left the field in his wake, scoring a massive 44 points to be a clear winner, and his first Green Jacket since another massive 45 points in March this year. When he wins, he wins big.
.
John Malet DeCarteret, fresh from quarantine, had a score of 38 points in his first game back and has gone three better in his second appearance to take second spot, winning a tight countback on 41 points, relegating Neil Smith, who did very well, to take third place.
Then came two excellent scores of 40 points where consistent Mike Tottenham kept Niall Caven out of fourth place on countback. What a day when 40 points only gets you fifth place!

It is great to see so many coming back to Pattaya, and we know some more players on their way here already. Today started to feel a bit like old times.
Now, if only they would let us have a beer!
