As the bus left Links this morning, the clouds were darkening over Pattaya but no rain came from these clouds.
Later, as our first groups were hitting the third hole at St.Andrews, the heavens opened, sending down very heavy rain with the accompanying thunder and lightning, which resulted in a fourty five minute delay as golfers headed for shelter.
Upon resumption of play a drizzling rain persisted for the remainder of the round, with rolling thunder providing the background noise.
The course was in good shape and even though some greens were looking a little spotty, they did play truly and with good pace.
Today was possibly our smallest turn out since countries around the world started closing borders because of Covid. Just nine Links players came to St.Andrews today.
There were another four golf societies covering Green Valley and St.Andrews 2000 and three of them also had small numbers. We are still trying to figure why.
Having an already challenging course, and now with heavy rain to dampen everything, scores were not in the higher range.
In fact, our winning score was only 33 points from Lesley Chow, in his return game after a short absence.
Selwyn Yates and Nick Aubin both had 32 points, but as we were to go to only two places, Selwyn won that spot in a tight countback.

Having spent a short time wondering about the lack of players, we checked the sign up sheets for the next game and it is already looking more like the numbers we expect.
With the rain delay and then some slow going, it was a little strange to be getting back to Links later than we have done in recent times, however, everyone handled it with aplomb and many stayed to order from the new food menu.
