Mathias Hermann Wins Again
It’s a Laem Chabang double for Mathias Hermann. On a low scoring day, he has recorded an excellent score of 37 points for his second straight win at this course, even though he later complained that his putting was not up to scratch.
A strange day this one. First of all, the field was reduced to just 12 starters as 10 regulars were on a golfing excursion to Khao Yai.
The weather was fine and sunny, making for a nice change but, apart from Mathias, the rest of the scores were unusually low to poor. Why?
There was nothing wrong with the course conditions, in fact the usual high standard here. Some greens had been scarified but only lightly sanded and still played well.
The bottom line? It was just one of those days.
Mathias finished well clear of second placed Maurice Roberts, who is becoming a regular in the placings. He scored only 30 points but that was good enough on the day. Derek Phillips had a little chuckle when his name was called as taking third place with his 29 points. We can remember when 29 points won the “wig”.
No “near pins” today, due to lack of numbers.
Phil also decided to leave the “wig” and “silly hat” in the brown bag as a gesture for those who turned out to play, and also because most of scores qualified for one or the other.

The travellers are back from their sojourn and already the numbers signed up for the next game at Pattavia are growing, so we can put this one down to a one-off hiccup.
