Copeland Sneaks to the Front
With two scores of 37 points and three scores of 36 points it was close, but Bill Copeland just got the better of them all to record a fine 38 points, for the win and the Green Jacket.
On a hot day with virtually no breeze to cool things down, our small(ish) field of twenty-one golfers lined up to take on the B+C combination.
As usual at this time of year the starter sent us off 15 minutes early and our first three-ball made good time until coming up behind a two-ball behind a four-ball. In the end it was still an acceptable four hour round.
Dave Buchanan has joined us now for our most recent games and can certainly play to his handicap of #1. Today with 72 off the stick he scored 37 points to take second spot on countback from Takeshi, who relished his new handicap of #14.
Then came a three-way countback for the fourth and final place, resulting in Dave Hewson getting the nod ahead of Paul Smith and George Mueller.
Near pins:
Dave Hewson (B3), Dave Buchanan (B8), Paul Smith (C3), Dave Buchanan (C8).
Winners Khao Kheow
1st Place – Bill Copeland (14) – 38 pts
2nd Place – Dave Buchanan (1) – 37 pts c/back

Best Front Nine ( non winners)…George Mueller….20 pts
Best Back Nine (non winners)…..Phil Davies …16 pts c/back
The lowest score on either nine was recorded by Derek Phillips, who is an Irishman, and looks quite at home wearing the green coloured “silly hat”.
Iain Craigen was already moving to front of stage to collect his “wig” even before Phil called him.
Khao Kheow was presented in excellent condition and the big talking point after the game was how good the greens. Rolling nicely with pace is just what we hope for, now up to you to get the ball in the hole.
