It was a wet beginning for our trip to Bangpra with heavy rain greeting our players before departure at The Links. Fortunately, things brightened up considerably by the time we reached Bangpra with all our players starting off in dry conditions – albeit very humid conditions. The course was in good condition and we had a clear run of play with Bangpra, like so many other courses just now, being very quiet.

It has been quite a week with the Coronation of King Charles III in the UK and Chris Barker winning his first Green Jacket at Pleasant Valley on Monday. Today at Bangpra it was the turn of       Dave Arataki to be crowned. Chris, Dave and the newly crowned King Charles all have much in common – all have waited nearly 70 years to be crowned. Bangpra is renowned for its monkeys with caddies armed with catapults to keep the primates away but there was no monkey business from Dave today as he celebrated his birthday with a Green Jacket. However, his winning score of 33 points would indicate that the real winner was the golf course.
