Yet Another Watson “Special”A visit to Royal Lakeside is always a treat for golfers and on Monday, 20th November the Pattaya Links Golf Society did just that, with twenty golfers keen to test their skills against the splendidly presented course on the outskirts of Bangkok. The day was gloomy and overcast but the cooler conditions were just perfect. Thankfully the day stayed dry until the final group were on the final green. Fairways were lush, bunkers well tended and the quick and consistent greens were as good as any the group have played in the past few months. Nay, better! The field was divided into two flights at sixteen and under and in the second flight Len Jones rediscovered some putting acumen to record 35 points for third, losing out to runner-up Larry Slattery on countback. Colin Service put the woes of his previous round behind him to record forty points for an excellent win. The top flight saw Aussie golfer Greg Watt return 33 points for third place, with compatriot Garry Barker taking second with 36 points, off his three handicap. The best round of the day was once again an exceptional one by Bob Watson whose gross 70 gave him 42 points. It was another example of how good this Australian golfer is. Consolation prizes went to Alan Walker (best front nine, 18 points) and Selwyn Yates and Phil Davies who could not be split after carding 17 points on the back nine.
