   Morrison Awakens From Slumber

An even number of 16 golfers set out for the short journey to Burapha Golf Course under grey skies.

Funny how the bus chatter lasts for about half the trip and then quiet.. Maybe everyone thinking of the plan of attack. Or some sleep?

We were assigned the C and D combination and, although some prefer the other combination ( A and B), this course proved  to be in very good condition.

Fairways looking green, nicely shaped and clean. The greens were quicker than some courses we have played lately, which caught a few out initially, but ran truly. The rough is playable now. Carts were allowed on the course because the fairways were quite firm.

Check in was efficient here, as usual, and there was no hold up getting to the first tee and away. A comment on the Marshals here. Whenever I ask for information, they have been friendly, helpful and keen to answer exactly what I ask.

Wayne Morrison has had more downs than ups in his golf game this trip, but now on the final few days, has wakened with a bang. 42 points is a great effort around this course and he appeared to do it with ease.

It wasn’t a runaway win, however, as Phil Davies, himself  kicking some bad form, came a close second with his best score in a while. Phil ,along with  Maurice ( his marker), thought that with 40 points it was in the bag. Not reckoning on someone coming up with 42..

Third place went to a countback, with John Anderson’s 36 points edging out Kevin Rogers by way of a better back nine.

Best Front Nine ( non winners)…..Nick Odnoral…….19 pts

Best Back Nine ( non winners)…..Maurice Roberts …20 pts

Winner ………..Wayne Morrison (28)……42 pts

2nd Place………..Phil Davies( 12)……………..40pts

3rd Place…………John Anderson (29)………….36 pts c/back

4th Place…………Kevin Rogers (12)…………..36 pts

Because of the late start most were looking for food when we arrived back at Links Bar, so out came an appetizer, two huge plates of chips ( French fries if you like) before the the main course was ready.

Stomachs full and on to the presentation of the Green Jacket to Wayne.

Someone has to get the “Wig”.. The two players with the least best scores for the day both had other places to be, so good “ol” Toby Glass took one for the team.. Looks ok too.

Here you go Toby, a nice wig just for you
