Our return to Royal Lakeside found a sunny, clear sky, with a few puffy clouds and a light breeze. It was a 𝗧𝗨𝗘𝗦𝗗𝗔𝗬 morning and our nine golfers, some with 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆 green fee vouchers from last time, were ready to tackle this fine golf course.
After some leisurely time on the practice green for some, or another cup of tea for others, we were asked to go when ready. With very few on the course, our first group teed off 30 minutes before the booked time, and continued at a good pace.
At our last visit here, Michael Blumhagen scored 37 points and finished in second place. Today he went one place and two points better to take the win, scoring a nice 39 points.
Also from last time, Steve Moxey finished in third place. He also went up one place to be second with 35 points, a good comeback from last week’s disaster.
It’s always good when Paul Durkan can get to play with us and he usually seems to get a mention in the results. He has grabbed third place today with 33 points after four cards went to the countback. Paul had the best back nine of them all with 18 points.
There was a mishearing by the ‘old’ organizer and so a reorganizing of placings was needed. To make it simple, we added one extra prize, so Peter Allen slipped into fourth spot by winning another of the countbacks at 33 points.

We know this course is always in great condition and so it was today, with those fairways that are cut to allow the ball to sit up a little, But, what happened to some of the cups?
At the bottom, a photo of one of quite a few around the course. It appears that the cup has not been inserted correctly or?? Maybe someone who knows about these things can suggest why they are not round.
It is unusual to criticize anything about this course, but we all have our days.
Some more 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆 green fees came to some players and all received 100 bht vouchers to spend at the kiosks on the way around, very nice.
We started with some excellent weather, but by the second nine, that light breeze had dropped away and made conditions just a little warmer. Nevertheless, a very pleasant day on a fine golf course.
