As our seven groups of four arrived, we found the course to be quite busy, as it usually is on a Friday. Indeed, we were to follow six groups from another society, but the pace of play turned out to be quite acceptable.
On a course not renowned for high scoring, Tony Browne and Lawrie McBride both played very solid games and scored 38 points apiece.
It had to go to a countback which gave Tony the win with the better back nine of 21 points.
Neil Smith has been away in the ‘boonies’ for a while and signed up almost at the last minute for this round. Not sure how much he played while away, but he has put together a good score of 35 points for third place.
From the same group, Stuart Kidd had one of his ‘good days’ to score 34 points and take fourth place on countback.
Karl Flood has had a break, due to health issues, but bounced right back into action to narrowly lose that countback with his score at 34 points also.
Rounding out the placings, a third member of the group with Neil and Stuart, was Lesley Chow with 33 points, which was the best of three players on that score. If you need to know, Stan Stewart and his crutch was the fourth member, but missed out this time.

Eastern Star course was in pretty good condition and the greens were as quick as expected.
Even though the starter lady, when asked in the morning, predicted ‘no rain’, the first clap of thunder came at 1.45pm and so, a couple of groups did get wet completing the last two holes.
There was no food scheduled for after the round today, but a surprise awaited when the Nebraska Kid, Mike Kaps, decided to buy him some chicken, but got a little too much for one.
As his mother is Phillipino, who taught him some recipes, he decided to share with the golfers his marinated Adobo Chicken, accompanied by rice cooked up by Aom. Very much enjoyed by all who had stayed for presentations.
