While rates at most courses are well down on what we used to pay, it is a great time to take advantage, especially at courses we would hardly have considered before.
St. Andrews 2000 is one of those, and we are getting here once a month to indulge.
While some of our regulars are still away on a trip, we rounded up a respectable twenty- six starters for today’s outing.
The course is in very good condition with well cut fairways and the greens, although recently fertilized, played truly and with good pace.
Only the ongoing saga with bunkers, which we have been talking about for a long time now, was a minor distraction on the day. When will they get some sand in and the weeds out of them?
Apart from the first five placegetters, the lowly scores suggested that most had a tough day.
Thierry Petrement, since returning to Pattaya late last month after a longer than planned trip to France, has played some good quality golf as his scoring record shows, including a 41 point score five days ago, and beaten on countback, but won a Green Jacket only nine days ago with 36 points, winning that on a countback.
No countback required here as 40 points was well clear of the next placing.
Sunny Khanna has become a regular with us recently and has found some good form on a tough day to score 38 points and grab second spot.
At our visit here last month, Young Min Ko scored a solid 36 points. He must like this course as he has registered the same score again, which gives him third place.
Since playing, and organizing, more often, Billy Buchanan is putting together some handy scores. A Green Jacket might be getting close. 34 points today put him in fourth spot.
Low handicapper, Nick Aubin, had a handy 33 points for the final podium position.

Under very heavy, threatening skies, we were once again asked to start earlier than our booked time.
That weather hung around most of the day until, finally. it did send some moisture. Not a heavy rain, but enough for the last few groups to stop for about twenty minutes
While the great sports day pricing continues, we will return here fairly soon.
If we could just see the bunkers upgraded, it would be a near perfect course for all to enjoy.
